The Commonwealth’s vision of leading the nation in providing a safe, customer- focused transportation infrastructure is an integral part of the Statewide ATMS project. To support this vision, Elite in partnership with Serco, deployed regionalized equipment, promoted, hired and trained staff, established a statewide ITS PMO team, integrated with the regional VDOT ITS teams, and successfully met each of the key milestone activities and dates for the Service Commencement in each region of VDOT operations. Looking to the future, Elite is using this knowledge to partner with Serco and the Virginia Department of Transportation to identify innovations that efficiently manage the challenging transition from regional to statewide operations.
Safety of staff, clients, and the traveling public remains the highest corporate priority for Elite. The team continually and safely performs at the highest levels as the Serco ITS Field Maintenance strategic SWaM partner. Since the inception of the contract, Elite has safely achieved a 99.6% on time completion rate of nearly 7,000 Responsive Maintenance service calls, involving several thousand lane closure operations on demanding highways, since the first Service Commencement transition in September 2013*, all while enduring one of the Commonwealth’s worst winter storms in decades. In support of promoting the longevity and optimal performance of the existing ITS field equipment, Elite conducted a comprehensive inventory of all ITS assets and completed over 3,400 Preventative Maintenance work orders on over 9,000 ITS assets across the state.
In addition to the field preventive and responsive maintenance, Elite also secures, maintains and supports over 27,000 spare parts for the Commonwealth’s ITS Devices in over 45,000 square feet of secure space in regional locations. The inventory efforts include integrated teams from each of the five regions to keep statewide stock levels at optimal levels, life cycle costs down, and just in time delivery services from our central warehouse hub.
